From AIFE to CDEF

Building on the success of the past two years of the Special Session on Applied Informatics in Finance and Economics (AIFE), we are pleased to announce that AIFE will be renamed to Computational and Data Sciences in Economics and Finance (CDEF), and will be held as an international conference. As in the previous years, it will be part of the IIAI AAI Congress and the proceedings will primarily be published by IEEE (please refer to previous programs: 2023, 2024). Continuing with the philosophy of AIFE, we are launching CDEF, which will be counting up from the 3rd. We look forward to your submissions/contributions.

Your Contribution is Important

A CDEF 2025 Program Committee (PC) member (Reviewer) is a respected researcher in the broad area of computational and data sciences in economics and finance who plays a crucial role in making the conference a success. The main responsibility of a PC member is reviewing 2-4 papers (including a 2-page poster paper). We believe that your contribution will greatly enhance the quality of this conference. By contributing to the advancement of informatics in the fields of finance and economics, your contribution will help the prosperity of research in this area. Your support and engagement are essential for improving the diversity and quality of research presented at this conference. Also, we appreciate your sharing this information with your colleagues. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

What's IIAI AAI and CDEF?

IIAI (International Institute of Applied Informatics; https://www.iaiai.org/top/) was founded in 2012 to host international conferences and journals like IEEE. Every year, IIAI holds an AAI Congress that hosts multiple international conferences. Although IIAI is quite a new organization compared with IEEE, ACM, and AAAI, IIAI deals with interdisciplinary fields, which are innovative and different from those of other organizations.

CDEF was originally started by AIFE (Special Session on Applied Informatics in Finance and Economics). AIFE was a special session in SCAI, one of the conferences in the IIAI AAI congress. In 2025, we started the CDEF conference as a new conference in the IIAI AAI congress by renaming AIFE.

IIAI AAI proceedings are basically published by IEEE through a collaborative alliance with IEEE. However, because of interdisciplinary fields, some papers in some conferences are not able to be published via IEEE. Our conference, i.e., CDEF, now assumes that almost all papers are published through IEEE, the same as the previous version of CDEF (AIFE) because our conference focuses primarily on technical things in finance and economics. Please see the last 2-year programs of AIFE: 2023, 2024 (you can find links to IEEE Xplorer.).

IIAI and CDEF were originally started with a small number of top Japanese researchers in the field, and currently, we are trying to expand our network wider and globally. We appreciate your cooperation and hope more researchers are involved.
